Dip Dyeing Disperse Transfer Dyes
In addition to using as transfer dyes, disperse dyes can be used for dyeing polyester or polyester/cotton mix.
We strongly recommend performing a trial run on a scrap piece of fabric.
Method:
- Prewash fabric and leave damp
- Put sufficient boiling water into a stainless container to allow free movement of the cloth, however, water can be added after steps 3 and 4 to ensure this
- Add disperse dye and mix until thoroughly dissolved (see below)
- Add the fabric to the dyebath and gently stir
- For best results bring to the boil over a heat source (see below for length of time)
Shade | Dye (Per 100g Dry Weight Of Cloth) | Time If Boiling Fabric (Best Result) |
Pale | 2g | 10 Minutes |
Medium | 5g | 20 Minutes |
Deep | 10g-15g | 40 Minutes Or Until Shade Required Is Obtained |
