Radiant Acid Dyes
Our new Radiant Acid Dyes differ slightly from our Acid Milling Dye range. Their chemical makes up gives a uniform and intense colour.
These dyes require more acid to be used and a longer simmering time for up to 45 minutes.
We strongly recommend using Citric Acid (not vinegar) as this helps the dye migrate onto the wool.
Use 10g of Citric acid for every 100gm dry weight of fabric/fibres.
Premix the dye in warm water and ensure completely dissolved.
Add this to your container (not aluminium) which contains approx. 1 litre water for every 100gms dry weight of fabric/fibres.
Add wetted fabric / fibre and leave for around 5 minutes to soak before gradually increasing the temperature for a further 5-10 minutes.
Then add the citric acid and slowly increase the temperature and simmer for up to 45 minutes.
Once done allow to cool down before gently washing out an excess dye in slightly warm water.
Take care to treat the fibres gently whilst dyeing so as not to shock the fibres with any vigorous movement or sudden temperature changes as this will cause felting.
