Sodium Chloride (Salt)

Please read this information carefully. Please also remember that the advice is based on supply of industrial quantities of Sodium Chloride. It is therefore recommended that this be taken in to account when undertaking risk assessment in the context of significantly lower levels of exposure for this or any other product.

4. FIRST-AID MEASURES

General
InhalationIf symptoms are observed remove person to fresh air.
Skin ContactLarge amounts may cause skin irritation (Salt Effect). Wash skin with soap and water. Cover cuts, dry or irritated skin before commencing use.        
Eye Contact 
Irrigate with water for 10 minutes keeping eyelids open. Obtain medical attention if irritation persists.
IngestionIf large quantities are ingested give no more than 1 cup of water or milk to drink for adults or half a cup for children. Ingesting large quantities may cause digestive track irritation with accompanying nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Product is non-flammable.
Fire Extinguishing MediaSuitable: water, foam, powder, CO2.
Unsuitable: None.
Personal Protection Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing.

Environmental PrecautionsLarge spills – do not allow to contaminate water courses. Use according to proper working procedures which minimise waste.   
Cleaning MeasuresSmall spills – sweep up and dispose as household waste but in accordance with any local and regional regulations.
Large quantities – vacuum or sweep solid in to a suitable container for intended use or disposal. Large spills – prevent from entering sewers, water courses, wells, etc.

16. OTHER INFORMATION

Textile Dyestuffs and related chemicals. Care should always be taken to avoid inhalation of fine powders whether these are dyes, other chemicals, flour or even icing sugar, particularly when used extensively. Always wear a suitable dust mask. In the event of previous sensitivity to any art, craft dye or household products, we recommend consulting a physician before participating in art and craft activities. Children should be supervised by an adult.
