Colsperse is a mild detergent used to ‘clean the fabric’ by pre-soaking it before starting to dye. This removes any manufacturers’ finishes, which could prevent the fabric from accepting the dye and is called ‘scouring’. This pre-soak also reduces surface tension which enables the material to better absorb the dye making the process more efficient.
Colsperse is also used after dyeing has been completed, to remove any excess dye to prevent back staining. Use 5 – 10gms per 1 litre of water (i.e. 1 – 2 teaspoons)
